Chris Egan's career in dog training started in 1984 when he joined the security industry working as a Crowd Controller, Mobile Patrol Officer and Patrol Dog Handler.

Specialising in Dog Training, Breeding and Security Training services has been a major success and now Chris is Director of Queenslands busiest Boarding / Training Kennels and an acknowledged leader in his field in Australia.

With twenty years of security industry experience Chris has encountered many of the hazards that handlers are likely to face in Security Operations. Knowledge and skill is the main factor in officer survival by learning correct and safe handling procedures.

Redgum Kennels has been a Nationally Recognised Training Organisation since 1989, with Chris developing and delivering recognised Handler Courses to Security Canine Officers throughout Queensland.  Chris is often called to lecture and advise the Security Industry on deploying man and dog teams as well as delivering Dog Safety Awareness Programmes to schools, industry and government departments.

In twenty years Chris has handled, assessed, instructed, trained and sold in excess of 15,000 dogs of all breeds. In this time Chris has appeared on TV Current Affair shows advising on personal protection and dangerous dogs. He has also contributed to many newspaper articles advising dog owners on all aspects of responsible dog ownership.

Chris has built a reputation as an honest and professional trainer. Veterinarians, councils, police, local and interstate business, as well as overseas clients recommend his services.

Redgum Kennels is a major provider of trained Security Service Dogs dogs to local, interstate and overseas clients.

Many patrol dogs are currently serving operationally in overseas countries such as Papua New Guinea, Brunei, Hong Kong, China, and Solomon Islands and Fiji.

Redgum Kennels has a breeding and development programme which has seen the introduction of a new companion and service breed, the Queensland Mastiff.

German Shepherds sourced from the worlds best service lines containing 100% working bloodlines are available. Puppies are available and can be exported worldwide.

Chris's aim has always been to assist owners of all breeds to better understand, manage and enjoy "mans best friend".

Administration duties cannot keep Patsy Egan away from her five star Cattery that opened Xmas 2002.

Patsy's lifelong love for cats saw her plan, design and oversee the building of this modern facility. As cats can often stress when taken out of their familiar home environment, Patsy is committed to making their stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.                                      

Profile: BROOKE MAHONEY

Brooke Mahoney came to Redgum Kennels and Cattery with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the canine and horse training fields.

Brooke is a qualified Riding Instructor with ten years experience.  Specialising in show jumping, equestrian and trail riding.  Brooke's other love is dog training with qualifications in obedience training, instructing, managing and handling security dogs, dog safety awareness, puppy head start.

Brooke has a natural ability and her positive training methods on all breeds, from toy's to 70kg Mastiffs achieve results.

Brooke is also available for private lessons / puppy training by appointment at Redgum kennels from Mon - Sat or, home training can be arranged for local residents.
